The Yaeger CPA review course was by no means the first one I used. The other course I used resulted in failing three sections of the CPA exam. That was when I opted for the home study course provided by Yaeger. The result was better than expected as I succeeded in passing the three sections with impressive results.

The Yaeger site states that candidates who have studied the Yaeger CPA review course have an average pass rate of 88% on the CPA exam. The founder, Dr. Phil Yaeger, has been preparing people for the exam since 1977. Dr. Yaeger and his experienced team offers something that none of their competitors are currently offering: an "Instructors Hotline" (an 800 number) that candidates can phone to ask questions about the key concepts or about the exam in general. Needless to say, I made regular use of this service and even spoke to Dr. Yaeger himself a few times. The teachers were tolerant and made sure all my questions were answered before ending the call.

I found the lecture videos quite engaging and led by well qualified tutors. The tutor would initially explain relevant concepts, and then take candidates through multiple choice questions and simulations. An advantage with the Yaeger system is they placed emphasis on materials with a high probability of showing up on the exam. Similarly, they would tell students to focus more on doing sample questions that have the highest chances of turning up in the actual exam.

I also felt the cram DVDs offered good value and responsible for a few point boost to my CPA results. Each DVD teaches a concentrated version of a single CPA section and varies between 7-16 hours. These cram DVDs are aimed at identifying the persons weakest areas and adding strength to those areas right before the exam. I doubt it matters whichever CPA review course you use, the Yaeger cram DVDs will assist with revision for any course and give plenty of last-minute knowledge.

Each year, the Yaeger CPA review course is revised. This includes the lesson videos they revamp annually. Thus, the candidate can be confident that they are learning from the most current information.

The cost of the Yaeger products caught me by surprise as it is less than other CPA exam review courses - even though it is better quality than many. Overall, I am delighted with the Yaeger CPA review course as it helped me succeed in the CPA exam. I would have no hesitation in suggesting it to anyone looking to succeed in the CPA exam the first time.
